The Academic Experience Design & Delivery (AXDD) unit within UW Information Technology (UW-IT) provides, develops, and supports teaching and learning tools, including the Canvas learning management system, lecture capture, and mobile apps for teaching and learning. AXDD emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and innovation in a light-hearted environment. AXDD projects during 2016-17 will investigate the following topics: improving student retention through effective “nudging,” improving the undergraduate experience, assessment of student learning, and learning analytics.
AXDD is seeking a UW graduate student interested in education and technology research to serve as a Graduate Staff Assistant for Fall Quarter 2016, starting in September 2016 (depending on applicant availability). The appointment may be extended through the rest of the academic year. The Graduate Staff Assistant will contribute to our effort to improve the UW student experience, with a specific focus on conducting research to understand the technology needs of students, instructors, and staff at the UW. The GSA will be part of AXDD’s Assessment team and will be involved in research activities including needs assessment, requirements gathering, surveys, and in-depth interviews. The GSA will work closely with other researchers on the Assessment team with an opportunity to work with software development project teams comprised of designers and engineers.
