RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, OGA DATA ANALYSIS PROJECT

The Office of Global Affairs (OGA) is an administrative division of the University that supports international education, research, and program activities at the University of Washington and around the world. OGA connects diverse internal and external networks of scholars, students and community leaders engaging in international issues and scholarship.

OGA seeks a graduate student to start in Fall Quarter 2016 as a 50% FTE salaried  Pre-doc Research Associate I to assist in the design and analysis of a data survey for use in the LAWB579 course taught in Fall 2016.

Responsibilities:

This position will work directly with Vice Provost Jeffrey Riedinger to design, conduct and analyze data collected on the implementation and impact of the People’s Republic of China’s 30-year agricultural land use rights policy using advancement econometric analysis. The data and analysis from this survey will contribute to the content and instruction of the LAWB579 course taught in Fall Quarter 2016.

Eligibility

•UW PhD Graduate Students Only
•Completion of a year-long sequence of graduate level econometrics courses
•Good understanding of identification strategies used in the fields of applied economics
•Demonstrate proficiency in Stata and sufficient experience with data cleaning, data management, descriptive and regression analyses using Stata software;
•Strong initiative and ability to work with little supervision
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Excellent project management skills
•Strong organization skills and attention to detail
