Funding for Graduate School
Money is out there to help with the cost of graduate school. Get a general overview of types of funding available to UW graduate students. Learn about databases, web resources, finding assistantships, and support services on campus, and discuss the timeline for applying for fellowships and grants.

PhD Funding
This workshop is aimed at Ph.D. students planning for dissertation research or preparing for dissertation writing. It will also address some funding options and resources available for Ph.D. candidates in their final years who are thinking about postdoctoral funding.

Summer Travel Funding and Fellowships
What do you want to do this summer? There might be funding to help! Learn tips on searching for fellowships, scholarships, travel grants and internships in funding databases and on the web. Many deadlines occur in the winter, so use this time to get prepared.

This workshop will introduce students to funding resources to locate fellowships, scholarships, grants, and student employment opportunities to help finance their graduate education. Topics covered in this workshop will include:

  • How to navigate GFIS’s Funding Resources Subject Guide
  • Search strategies
  • The timeline for finding funding
  • Frequently asked questions about funding for graduate school

DATES: September 26 & October 12, 2012
LOCATION: Research Commons, Allen Library South

PhD Funding Resources Workshop
This workshop will discuss funding resources for Ph.D. students including dissertation research, travel, and dissertation-year writing support. It will also include resources for Ph.D. students planning to file in 2012-13 who are looking for postdoctoral funding.
